Under Section 137 of the Local Government Act 1972, East Preston Parish Council has the Power “to incur expenditure for certain purposes not otherwise authorised.”
This means local organisations can apply to the Parish Council for funds to support work benefitting East Preston residents. In recent years, organisations that have benefitted in this way include 1st East Preston Scouts, Friends of East Preston Infant School, East Preston Cricket Club, East Preston Football Club, Girlguiding East Preston, St Barnabas Hospice, Sussex Victim Support and others. There is strict legislation about who can be awarded funds.
In 2008, the Parish Council adopted a policy of advertising for and considering applications twice a year. This was further refined in November 2015 with the decision to consider applications only once a year. This ensures applications are considered in a fairer manner.
To apply in the 2025 round of applications, please complete and return this application form. You will also be required to provide your organisation’s latest set of accounts and numbers of East Preston residents benefitting from your organisation’s work.
The closing date for the receipt of applications is 31st March.
